Ignite 2017

Auf dem technischen Event in Orlando haben Sprecher von Microsoft und Partnern zu vielen Produkten "Neuigkeiten" verkündet. Ich war selbst nicht vor Ort aber danke Streaming, Vorträgen als Videos und verschiedene Twitter-Meldungen und Blog-Einträge der Besucher bekommt man auch abseits die wichtigsten öffentlichen Werte mit. Natürlich fehlt das persönliche Gespräch mit Teilnehmern und der Besuch der Partner in der Ausstellung.

Neuerungen zu Teams, Skype for Business, Exchange und Office 366

Hier eine Liste der aus meiner Sicht interessanten Aussagen.

  • Roadmap
    Eine Folie zeigt sehr allgemein die nächsten Versionen und Zeiten. Beachten Sie, dass wir uns hier schon Mitte 2018 und Ende 2018 und nicht in 2017 bewegen. Das Jahr 2017 ist ja auch schon rum, wenn man die Lebkuchen im Supermarkt als Indikator nutzen würde.

    Die Zeiten sind natürlich alle "unter Vorbehalt" und ohne Details über Funktionsumfang ist das natürlich eher eine Beruhigungstablette, dass alle drei großen On-Premises-Produkte weiter entwickelt werden.
    • Office 2019, Mitte 2018
      Interessant, dass Word, Excel, PowerPoint und Co. eine richtig neue Nummer bekommen. Wie nicht anders zu erwarten sind dann aber wieder 3 Jahre vergangen und ein Update von Office 2016 steht an. Wer nicht schon auf den Office 365 ProPlus-Zug mit laufenden Updates umgestiegen ist, muss also neu kaufen oder Software Assurance nutzen. Vielleicht gibt es ja bald eine Nummerierung im Jahr/Monat-Schema wie bei Linux und mitterlweile auch bei Windows 10.
    • Exchange 2019, Herbst 2018
      Das nächste Produkt auf der Timeline ist Exchange. Es dürfte nicht verwundern, dass es nach drei Jahren eine neue Version gibt. Das wird aber vermutlich auch bedeuten, dass nach der N-2 Regel damit auch Exchange 2010/Outlook 2010 Koexistenz entfällt. Details über Designänderungen darf ich noch nicht liefern.
    • Sharepoint 2019, Ende 2018
      Immer wieder gibt es Gerüchte dass neue SharePoint-Versionen nur noch in der Cloud weitergeführt würden. Sobald meine SharePoint-Kollegen mir was vermelden, kann ich dazu was schreiben.
    • Skype for Business Server 2019, Ende 2018
      In der Cloud wird aus Skype for Business bald "Teams". TK-Infrastrukturen haben aber Investitionsräume von Jahren und daher ist es nur logisch, dass Skype for Business On-Prem natürlich weiter geführt wird und seinen Namen behält. Es ist ja das "gleiche alte Produkt". Mit dem Supportstatement werden wir also noch viele Jahre auch On-Prem eine Lösung haben.
  • Skype for Business 2019: PChat entfällt
    Das hat mich acuh nicht weiter überrascht. Es gibt (leider) sehr wenigen PCHAT Installationen und in Zeiten von Yammer, Office Groups, Teams bleibt einfach kein Platz.
  • Projekt Honolulu
    Finde ich interessant um mal schnell einen Status von einem oder mehrerer Server per Browser zu erhalten. Es ist aber kein Ersatz für ein gutes Monitoring.

PowerPoints und Videos herunterladen

Um die 1700 Vorträge als auch die Aufzeichnungen sind online verfügbar. Sie müssen also filtern oder bei Bedarf die ausgewählten Vorträge suchen. Allein die Powerpoints sind ca. 8GB und die Video-Aufzeichnungen sind noch deutlich größer.

Dank Michel de Rooij gibt es auch ein PowerShell-Script, welches Folien und Videos herunterladen kann.
